Why this "forum" exists

Our Class came into existence as a cohesive body in September 1954.  We were formed to be a learning organization.  We were fortunate to be tutored by eminent scholars who took us out of the comfort of childhood and who taught us to think beyond the obvious.

That gift of mastering discerning thinking, respect for universalities, and for clear articulation have served us well in many professions and life walks. Just as we benefited from the learning of those scholars of our time at the university, we can now share our learning for the benefit of generations today and tomorrow.  This forum is dedicated to that proposition.

Learned discourse occurs through the publication and exchange of written papers, articles, and books, together with reactions, comments, and additions inspired by the initial thinking.

One quick takeaway from early content received is that the microcosmic world in which, say, physicians typically practice contrasts sharply with the macrocosmic world which occupies the minds of our geopolitical thinkers. Both approaches matter.

That incremental microcosmic approach is giving us longevity. Our geopoliticians, though, seek to address worldwide rivalries to give our physicians and others the peaceful world needed for them to do their work, allowing them to address the physical and mental challenges of human existence.

To reflect these differences of perspective, the forum now branches into sub-forums in which we can each find comfort and, as we did in college, we can continue to learn from each other.
